The objective of this course is to familiarize participants with the basic rocks and minerals that make up our most typical ore deposits.

Unlike a geology class which would look heavily at things like crystal structure, thin sections, and an array of identifying tests, this class will emphasize simple visual recognition of some of the typical forms of rocks and minerals.  The class will look more at what are typical ore deposits like and how big are they?  How are the minerals typically mined and processed?  What are the minerals used for?  What are they worth on the market?
