Grades are based on a fixed percentage of the possible points, rather than competition for a number of grades preset by a curve. The percentage breakpoints are set as

90% + = A

80% + = B

70% + = C

60% + = D

< 60% gets unpleasant

Points are obtained from a series of 7 equally weighted units. Each unit alots 50% of points to assignments and 50% either to a unit test or a unit project.

Basic Grading Criteria

1- Competent handling of the calculating and design procedures and software for the materials handling systems covered. 70%

- Neat and professional work presentation. 20%

3. Reasonable design assumption and consideration of external factors influencing design. 10%.

All realistic design type engineering problems provide both surplus information and a lack of critical data. Part of the engineers task is to filter out extraneous information and to assemble from other sources reasonable assumptions to fill in the missing data. Design problems by their very nature have no unique solution and the engineer must use creative license to determine how the problem will be approached and what values or maters of taste will be used in the design. The reasonableness with which this task is approached is also part of these points.
